Afghan Diary 26.06.2013

26 June 2013

The story to write down
The story worth telling
The resilience of the Afghans,
Took my tears down…

An IGNOU Afghan student from Gardez city, Paktia Province, today came to my office. I have listened to his today experience before coming to the exam room. I was speechless...
I will not tell you his name. He came from Paktia Province to Kabul for his IGNOU exam (our University coordinates with the India Gandhi Open University (IGNOU, India). On his way to Kabul, in Logar province, there was a close fire fight between the Taliban and Afghan National Army. So, their bus had to wait somewhere outside of this shooting zone. He could no long wait after half an hour since the exam time is getting closer. He got out of the car and run until he got to the next car amidst this shooting. After telling me his life story of the day, he took a honey bottle out of his back bag and put it on my table. He said this is the best honey in the world from my province; I want to give it to you… what can I say?
A bottle of honey and a man, both are amazing endured creatures…

they are just standing in front of me…
can't hold my tears...
